East Jeju: UNESCO peak, haenyeo culture, folk village, coast

  1. 1

Seongsan Ilchulbong 1 hour Admission included

Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak [UNESCO World Heritage] (Trekking: 60 minutes). Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak rose from under the sea in a volcanic eruption over 100,000 years ago. Located on the eastern end of Jejudo Island, there is a huge crater at the top of Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak. The crater is about 600m in diameter and 90m high. With the 99 sharp rocks surrounding the crater, it looks like a gigantic crown. While the southeast and north sides are cliffs, the northwest side is a verdant grassy hill that is connected to the Seongsan Village. The ridge provides an ideal spot for walks and for horse riding as well.

  2. 2

Haenyeo Museum 1 hour Admission free

Jeju established the Jeju Haenyeo Museum in 2003 to introduce to the world the unique activities and culture of Jeju's haenyeo. Haenyeo refers to female divers who dive into the ocean water to gather various shellfish and seaweed without any diving equipment. The museum exhibits various photos of haenyeo and their activities, to provide an accurate picture of their lives. The museum also has an observatory offering an excellent view of the Hado-ri area, which has a garden with various sculptures and a resting area. The first floor lobby has a souvenir shop where visitors can purchase a variety of souvenirs related to haenyeo.

West Jeju: forest, gardens, beach, tea fields, volcanic coast

  1. 1

Hwansang Forest 1 hour Admission included

Cape Jawal, its mysterious space. Located in the mid-mountainous area of southwest Jeju Island, Phantom Forest shows a unique forest topography that can only be encountered in Jeju. The so-called 'Cape Jawal' is an area with high conservation value, and there is a forest of trees, thorns, and vines on top of piles of stones and rocks. Ordinary people know that trees can't live without soil, but when you come here, that prejudice is shattered. It's just amazing how the trees grow in the crevices of the barren stones, not in soft mounds of dirt.

  2. 2

Hallim Park 1 hour Admission included

Hallim Park, almost 100 thousand square meters, has a variety of gardens that can be enjoyed in any season. Visitors can enjoy checking out Palm Tree Road, Jeju Stone and Bonsai Garden, Water Garden, Subtropical Botanic Garden and much more. The most famous tourist sites in Hallim Park are Hyeopjaegul and Ssangyonggul Caves known to be the only two-dimensional caves in the world. In addition, a folk village, children's amusement park and outdoor resort facilities make it enjoyable for both children and adults.

  3. 3

Hyeopjae Beach 30 minutes Admission included

Hyeopjae Beach is one of the popular places that many tourists visit in anytime. The white sand beach has extra fine sand mixed with shells that glitters with silver, and the emerald-colored water is crystal clear. Also one of the well-known islands, Biyangdo ('flown island'), can be seen from Hyeopjae Beach.

O'sulloc Tea Museum 1 hour Admission included

O'sulloc Museum teaches visitors about Korea's traditional tea culture. The "o" in "o'sulloc" means to appreciate and enjoy, and it also stands for the origin of sulloc, only sulloc, and of sulloc tea. The museum, which first opened in September 2001, is widely known in Korea. The entire building takes the shape of a green tea cup. It seeks to harmonize the cultures of the West and East, and past traditions with the modern world. At the O'sulloc Museum, not only can visitors enjoy unique o'sulloc teas, but they can relax next to the lotus pond in the indoor garden. The second floor of the building has an observatory, so visitors can enjoy the views of the nearby green tea fields and the surrounding landscape.

    Suweolbong 1 hour Admission free

Jeju Island was born into the world due to volcanic activity. Mt. Halla and its large and small ascents were created by volcanic activity. Recognizing the geological value of Jeju Island, the World Heritage Committee certified the entire island as a Global Geopark. Jeju's Suwolbong Volcanic Crater Layer (Natural Monument No. 513) is called a textbook for volcanology research. It is a steep ascent that rises on the coast of Gosan-ri, which is the exact opposite of Seongsan Ilchulbong. It is only 77 meters high, but the view from the top is remarkable. The sea is deep blue, and the coastal cliffs stretch out like a folding screen along the way.

Went on the Eastern Jeju tour with our guide Elin (Jeju Mama), and she was absolutely amazing. She took such great care of everyone throughout the trip — very motherly, thoughtful, and attentive. She made sure we were comfortably settled during lunch, constantly offered to help take photos for us, and kept the atmosphere lively with her humor and energy. Elin is clearly very passionate about her job and an excellent communicator. She made the entire trip smooth, enjoyable, and memorable for all of us. What touched me most was when I had a small fall and injured myself — she immediately helped cleanse my wound and even offered to lend me her pants. That level of kindness and care really meant a lot. I would gladly join another tour with her again. Highly recommended!

We had such an amazing time with Yeha Tours! We were incredibly lucky to be paired with Elin as our tour guide (Mumma Jeju—you are the best! 😊). Everything was so well organized and ran smoothly from start to finish. I highly recommend booking with Yeha Tours. We learned so much about Jeju while having an incredible amount of fun. The lunch was delicious, and our driver, Mr. Kim, made everyone feel safe and comfortable throughout the day. Thank you to Yeha Tours, but most importantly, thank you to Elin for making us laugh constantly, creating such a warm and enjoyable atmosphere, and sharing your knowledge and wisdom throughout the day. You truly made our holiday unforgettable, and we’ll always remember this experience.
